I have a 1993 TV-17 Bass Tracker. Noticed several small holes in the transom, looks like pitted corrosion. Any recommendations for repairing the holes / replacing the wood in the transom. Thanks
That’s an aluminum skin reinforced by wood. In most aluminum skiffs the wood reinforcing is not well sealed and probably water soaked... What you’re looking at is needing to replace all of the reinforcing on that transom.
If it were me I’d be looking for a skilled fiberglass shop but many are willing to DIY it.
Look on You Tube for “transom replacement. Done properly the corrosion holes in the aluminum will be sealed up when you replace that transom.
Be warned.. very often when replacing a transom you’ll find other problems that you couldn’t see before you started...
