Thanksgiving morning

Ran to the Gulfside this morning. First time for me looking for cobia. No luck with them ,but we did run across a load of Spanish macks , jacks and various little snapper. Fished in about 25 foot of water.  bait as far as you could see with birds. Just seem to be a lot of Jack’s and Spanish mackerel. Fish dip !!

These Spanish are more firm then in Maryland it seems like they are not as mushy and don’t stink. Fried some up Last night and it was good

How deep into the gulf you have to go to get them mackerals? I am in big pine channel and go through by contents but never had any luck.

Good going! Thanks for the report. Check out a Cuban escabeche recipe for pickled mackerel. That's one of my favorites. The old time commercial fisherman would live on it for multiday trips.
