Did you ever consider working a lead head with a Gulp tail slowly along the bottom?  On Saturday I quit counting when my anglers had caught and released about forty trout at the first spot we came to... That day those same leadheads accounted for snook, redfish, flounder, and a few other species... Not as exciting as top water but very productive.

We were in the back 10K on Sunday, 3 reds, a couple of small snuke, no trout.  Most fish caught on white bucktail tipped with a piece of scrimp.  Nothing on the topwater...  Massive amounts of ladyfish where water was moving fast, they like the plain ole' bucktail.

We were out Mon.and did not expect much with little tide action and
small fall in barometer. But fishing was very good for us three.Six reds,
three trout, some snapper and many small snook.Like above post, white
wiffle 4"tail ducktail with bit of shrimp. The water was moved around by
wind and moving water meant fish.

Today was on fire at low tide and incoming. Lots of slot trout. 2 nice black drum.  4 big sheepshead and a 35” surprise snook. (While fishing for sheepshead at the oyster bar with small hook and piece of shrimp. Go figure. She is released safely . And as the tide came in 2 pompano. Fakahatchee in the back
