What to bring down for a day in Miami?

Hello,

I'm going to be taking a trip down from NC around the end of June 2021 (21st through the 28th, fishing Miami the 27th), and wanted to see what you'd suggest bringing down. We're planning to hit some canals and Lake Ida on foot/kayak, with hopes of catching at least one snakehead, peacock, and clown knife a piece.

What would you bring down to try and accomplish this? I've never done the South Florida fishery before, so this is new to me. Open to fishing live bait and artificials.

Just to make sure you're aware ...you will need a fishing license that you can get at many takle stores, Bass Pro, and of course online. Not sure if you're an out of state senior citizen...as senior FL residents are exempt. Good luck. Oh and for your safety don't cut anyway off on I-95 as we're having an epidemic of "road age"...more deadly than Covid. Good luck.

I don’t fish for clown knife and I hear the best bait for them is live but for peacocks I prefer small soft paddle tail baits on the order of an inch and a half long. For snakeheads anything topwater with buzz baits and soft frogs being my preferred baits.

Yeah my understanding was clown knives are pretty much only caught on live, so definitely planning to just pick up some shiners for them. I didn't realize peacocks hit soft plastics - I'll have to give them a try. Sounds good on the snakeheads too
