CK weekend 11/14-11/15

Finally got a break in the weather and made it back over to CK with my family (wife, two boys, daughter) and my mom. Dad was fishing his year end bass club classic so he missed out.
Headed out around 1:30 with the whole clan on Saturday with the rapala DTs rigged and ready. Started out in the 20' depths and caught nothing but shorts. Pushed out to 30' and put two in the boat rather quickly. One was over 30" and this fish got hung up when my son was fighting it, which usually never happens when trolling. I reversed course, got on the upside of the hang, the fish came free, and we put her in the boat. 60lb fluro was frayed pretty good so we got lucky on that one for sure. After a couple passes with no more bites we moved and hooked into a 34” beast that my wife reeled in with the kids chanting "go mommy go" . After the excitement settled, we went a while with no hits so ran back to where we got the first two keepers and put one last keeper in the boat. Put the boat on plane, cranked up Stick Figure, and headed in with the sun setting at our backs. Awesome feeling.
On Sunday my son, mom, and I headed back out for some more fun while the rest of the crew decided to head back early to Central Florida. Ran to a different area to see what was shaking. Well as soon as we got there, the bite was on! We put our three person limit in the boat in a few hours, all of which were solid fish. All but two of them came off the same rock pile. Caught several shorts too. We did have one major mishap occur, which was totally the captains yours truly's fault. I had just caught a 30+" keeper. Got the hooks out and went to carry fish to the cooler when it decided to give a big shake. I couldn't hold on to the slimy sucker and out my hands it went back into the drink. I wasn't very happy at the time, but I guess in hindsight it makes for a better memory and funny story we can tell for years to come. Great day on the water. Great weekend in CK. Going back again this weekend. Can't wait.
