Launched Sunday at a very low tide @ 7am. Water temp 80.2.f and a little turbid. Had to go around the Marco Rocks to get inside. Went to a little mangrove island and the girlfriend gets a 17" trout on a homemade jig. I did get a 24" snook on a prop-bait topwater. A few jacks/ladyfish.....On to the SE corner of Cape Romano. Got another 24" snook on the topwater and a few more jacks/ladyfish. Into the Morgan River, GF gets another 17" trout on the jig and I got 16" trout on a shrimp/cork and a jig. I did manage a 22" snook on a blue Yo-Zuri. Strange, this fish was in open water nowhere near the wood. Went to the outside of Blind Pass and a saw a 40+ " snook surface in the heavy current. Did not get any hits but tried and tried!
Back to the little island on the inside. No fish, but did see approx. 50 some mullet facing into the current under the shade of the mangroves. They stayed there for at least 20 minutes.
Not bad for a pre-front fishing trip. Low tide, Heavy incoming and a few nice fillets and sights. Next 5 days look like 15+MPH winds. A good time to do maint. on the rods/reels/tackle.
Until next time, be safe and enjoy the 10K area! And hope the Caxambas docks get repaired quickly!!!!
