Fishing Tips Homosassa

New to area from Jacksonville and have been boating/learning the waters, but haven't fished much. Terrain totally different than inshore Jax.  Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Would like to stay in shore as much as possible.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

you will get some help, what kind of boat do you have and do you understand the dangers of running shallow over rock.  In jax when you hit bottom it is sand, in Homossassa it is rock. Take care, lets see how your post goes.
    I love both areas.

Run in the channels as much as possible. Go slow in shallow water but still expect to ding your prop occasionally. Study the tide charts. My preference is to fish the last three or four hours of incoming tide and the first one or two of outgoing.Make long casts and keep a low profile. I still like to plan my trips to new areas with paper charts but they have gotten pretty hard to come by. Most of the best spots I fish were found when fishing solo but the last few years, I have a partner that also likes to explore new water. Most people would suggest that you hire a good local guide to get you started. There are lots of beautiful spots and plenty of fish but you have to work to find them. Enjoy the process and good fishing.

Check out Florida Marine Tracks, might help you running over there.

Think hard bottom, submerged rock piles and oyster bars, and boilers. Tricky without experience but as has been said, Florida Marine Tracks will be your friend.

You guys are awesome...thank you for taking the time to help. I do have a pontoon (tri-toon w/150), draws about a foot.  I live on Mason Creek and have been learning the waters. I've also kayaked some to learn before taking boat. I love the area and want to get out and find more structure.  Appreciate the tips!
