fishing in bahia honda area

    Iam coming down  next week with a skiff to bahia honda to fish and snorkel .What can i expect with the fishing ,its  my first time  there and dont know where to start..    thanks

    Lots of info on here if you search for it. Bridges, backcountry and possibly the reef if your skiff can handle it and if the weather cooperates. Live bait will be key. Buy a cast net and learn if you dont know already. Thats 90% of the game is getting bait. Find a deeper area of the bridge and have fun. Google maps is a great tool to mark areas you would like to hit prior tot he trip down.

      thanks for the help ,  i will try fishing the bridges at bahia honda....i hope there snapper there..  and definitely  would like a few mackerel for the smoker

    There are definitely snapper there.  Get a good chumslick going.   Freeline bait chunks back in the slick with the bail open on your reel, when line starts peeling off close the bail and reel in your fish. 
    You can't pet a dead dog back to life

    Like advised above, anchor up, hang a chum bag, freeline fresh bait chunks back. Put a couple of long leaders back on the bottom with bigger baits. It's amazing what you can catch in the Keys in 20 ft. of water.
