try launching Yankeetown, fish the river and/or the flats just to the south. So beautiful on that river. If you hit traffic right (miss it), you should be able to launch an hour after leaving Gville. maybe try wacassassa if your boat runs shallow and handle some rocks
Jim from on here fishes Wacassassa regularly and does well. Go slow til you have some routes tracked (best to do at lower tides so you know where rocks and oyster bars are).
Send me a PM and I'll tell you the secret places in town to do some decent bass fishing... makes a great way to spend an extra 30 minutes on the way home from work/school
Suwannee offers to the small boater a nice option if it is blowing too hard out in the Gulf, you can stay in the river and do lots of exploring in the creeks and out the pass to the south. As Tankered said Cedar Key is the closest, for me on the west side of Gville it's about 55 minutes to get there. It seems all the rest of the likely locations are an hour and 20 minutes. C River which I don't have a lot of experience with seems a good place to explore with a smaller boat and has other stuff to do like the springs. it also has more restaurants and shopping for the off water times.
