Looking to do some surf fishing and could use advice

Alcull1970Alcull1970 Posts: 2 Greenhorn
Hey all fisherpeople out there! I'm looking for some advicr/suggestions on tackle/bait to use in the Fort Myers Beach. I'm an avid freshwater and deep sea fisherman but never did any surf casting.

Anyone know a good starting setup? I'm thinking of bait fishing, but I'm more of a lure/jig type fisherman, so the world of bottom/bait fishing is somewhat new to me.

I'm by no means an expert in surf fishing but there are plenty of videos online like this that can show you the basic setup for cut bait fishing.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbHM2lnGrGU  I'll use shrimp, squid strips or sand fleas and catch fish all day long.  If you want some fun swimbait or jerkbait fishing get out early and the surf close in can produce snook, reds, jacks, ladyfish etc. depending on the time of year.
