What's biting?

Hey my Keys friends....
Headed down from the Space Coast next weekend.  Hope the weather's good.... we usually try to come in June, but... COVID.

What should I plan for?  Not looking for secret spots, just some general advice for what's working right now:
Trolling any good right now? How deep? Any chance of wahoo this time of year?
Reef good or bad right now?  Again, how deep should I be going?? I've had luck in 75-105 in the past.
If the weather is bad, how's the inshore patch reef stuff this time of year?

I will be going out of Big Pine.

I was wondering the same thing as it will be my first time down during the fall this weekend. Will the mackerel be on the reef?

This is a transitional time of the year. Some fish still up in the reef, snappers with an occasional grouper. Fish out on the hump, mainly tuna with some mahi mahi. An occasional passing wahoo, but it’s a little early for them. The wind and waves are usually moderately worse at this time of year than in the summer though.  Trolling could work, but it’s an unpredictable time of the year. Having said that, there are usually some fish to be had still.  If the weather is bad, the bridges always hold some fish.

we were on the reef around 45 feet in Key Largo last week and we got 19 yellow tails 15+ inches all....and the cero mackerel were sky rocketing all over the place....ballyhoo were thick....now this week it will be very windy and rough...that's October....I find it that October the reef bite improves possibly due to the water temp. going down....just keep an eye on the weather....and good luck....
