Tried for swords on Tuesday with my brother off Miami. Trolled the edge for a short while and got two bonitos for sword baits. Trolled out with five lines and at 800' had a double hookup. One was a nice blackfin, the other broke the leader. Probably another blackfin and the leader was a bit worn. At 1800' before putting out the sword line followed the only bird seen all day along a nice current rip with scattered weed on it. No hits. Set up our first drift in 1750' and while on the drift got a dolphin on a bonito strip we had behind the boat. Rigged up the dolphin belly for bait. Made two more sword drifts, all between 1750'-1500' with no bites. Current was about 1 knot so fishing was easy, just very little to show for it.
Neil, Maybe we will see you out there Saturday, as I think my Rosie spot is close to your spots. Going to take the kids out to see if we can pick up a couple schoolies but sounds like it might be slim pickings, so me might end up back on the deep drop spots sooner rather than later. I'll give you a call on the radio.. your on 72 or 68?
