some chilling shipwreck footage

Recently got back from a trip to Lake Huron to dive some of the many, many shipwrecks up that way. Bottom temperatures of 39-41F--brrrrrr....

This video features the freighter MONROVIA, the steamer GRECIAN, and the schooner E.B. ALLEN, which rest off Alpena, Michigan.

Pretty neat stuff. I notice that the fresh water wrecks have a lot less life on them. I guess the absence of corals, hydroids and sponges makes a difference. Not many fish either.

Yea, it seems small fish don't  need to hide in a wreck from large predators with teeth or get out of strong current to conserve energy. Very boring diving unless you are looking for artifacts IMO..

Cool video.  I've done some shallow water wrecks in Georgian Bay.  Always interesting.  You usually find a lot of small mouth bass on those wrecks.
