Mangrove Snapper Personal Best

Caught this brute yesterday morning first thing on a Super Spook Jr.  I figured I had a redfish in the typical 22" range the way it was fighting. Could not believe it when I got him boatside. 18" of hard fighting snapper! That beats my previous mang of 16" caught on a Baby Vudu shrimp last year. Got several small snook and a couple barracudas as well. One of the cudas was a personal unbest!

Not bragging, but this is the biggest mangrove from the river I have personally ever seen. And btw, catching 4 or 5 smaller ones per trip on artificials is the norm. I have caught several now on the Spook, but most come on subsurface lures. Pound for pound,,they fight almost as strong as jack crevalle!

Nice mangrove...as for the cuda I love when the little guys eat a bait as big as them.  Now that's an aggressive fish.  Congrats

Nice fish. I've caught cubera in the keys but in all my years, I've never caught one in the IRL. It's on my list. Hows the water quality looking?

For this time of year the water clarity is not bad.  It does vary from one spot to the next
