Weston exotics

I see a lot of people post about where to find peacocks and cichlids and other exotics in Weston. I was down there Friday while my wife was at the Cleveland Clinic, so I had a few hours to kill. Forgot my rod (of course), so I hit Walmart and spent $11 on a small rod pre-spooled with mono (ick) and another $15 on lures. I typed in "parks" into Google Maps and found one in Emerald Estates, about 1.5 miles away, that looked decent.

I was the only one there because it was hot. The first 3 or 4 feet of the pond was thick with slimy vegetation, but the water was pretty clear past that. I threw a brightly colored tiny spinner bait and just worked it back towards the muck. Two casts and SLAM, cichlid. Moved down the bank and hit another one. I saw more than I caught, but it was cool watching them come out from the vegetation and slam the spinner bait. Here are the spots where I caught them. Posting this in Freshwater too. ing this
