At 5am a group of like minded paddlers set out on a mission with one thing on their minds. Too find fish in a lagoon that hasn't been too friendly to kayakers as of lately.
With the wind finally blowing from the right direction Cory, Julio Ocasio, Xavier, Josh Perez, and myself jumped on the chance to explore a area the westerly winds have been keeping us out of for a few weeks now.
Some of us were quickly rewarded for our efforts landing multiple fish within the first 30mins, while others had to put a little more time in on the water, in the end everyone scored a fish and the group traded the smell of skunk for fish slime.
Weapons of choice were strictly Artificial ranging from paddle tails, flukes, and doa shrimps.
Back in the day at pretty much any boat ramp or dirt road with a lagoon shoreline you would find groups of kayakers headed out to do battle amongst the flat boats, and the schools of the goons. It's sad we don't see this anymore, so I'm super stoked to have met up with these solid yakfishermen and to hopefully start a new chapter to a old book.
