“There will never be a really free and enlightened state until the
state comes to recognize the individual as a higher and independent
power, from which all its own power and authority are derived.”
Definitely no need to drive all the way to Coquina. The 10th St./Centennial ramp is probably going to be the easiest for you to get to but can get crowded on weekends/holidays.
Ken Thompson Park out on City Island is another nice ramp but can also get crowded.
Finally, Turtle Beach Boat Ramp out on Siesta Key is a good option if you're planning to fish/travel the Siesta Key area or south of there. It can also get crowded but I've never seen it quite as bad as the other two I mentioned. Turtle Beach has less parking though so it wouldn't take much for it to get too full.
This link has a map of all the waterfront restaurants with docks in FL. My personal favorites in the area in no particular order are Dry Dock on Longboat Key, Mar Vista on Longboat Key, and Tide Tables in Cortez.
Nice ramp on venice island just south of north jetty. If you want access to gulf venice jetty is right there. Otherwise 10th st boat ramp or ken thompson is closest to the Big Pass on north end of siesta. If you are planning on going south on intercoastal you might just drive it down to venice to avoid the slow speed zones. Have fun!!
