This is a fully customized 1956 Grumman Sportboat turned into a shallow water fishing machine. All fabrication done in aluminum, I personally did all the work and can answer any questions. All of the original seats were removed, EVERY rivet inspected, only 6 of the +/- 2000 rivets needed replacement. Flotation under bow cap inspected, bagged and replaced before bulkhead reinstalled.

The transom was reinforced to accept the jackplate and heavier outboard. The hull bottom is in plane with the cavitation plate for both outboards comming with the boat, floats in 4 inches. I run the boat equally in fresh and salt.

Fabricated front and rear casting deck with fully open storage underneath. I played around with weight distribution and determined the battery under the front deck and 3 or 6 gallon fuel tank under the rear deck was best. With this configuration it jumps up on plane with virtually no bow rise. The center seat was designed to accept an oval roto molder cooler that was used to configure a fully plumbed bait well. The cooler can be used as a well, a dry storage or an ice chest. I generally use it as a center console, dry storage.

The center console has a Garmin EcoMap 44dv with transom transducer. The live well, running lights and Ecomap can be powered by either the 12v battery under the front deck or its own smaller 12v battery under the middle seat.

My average salt fishing day is a 10-15 mile round trip jumping from flat to flat. With 20 hp, two people 155lb and 190lb, runs at 21mph with 12v trolling motor, battery and 3 gallons fuel. Quick Remove the trolling motor, smaller 12v battery under center seat and one person runs 24mph. With a little chop on the water I move it down to 17mph and it does very well skipping across the top.

Great balance between primary and secondary stability. My 6ft 2in 190lb son and I have no problem fishing it together and feel very comfortable with its stability. When I fish it alone I stand on top of a 35q yeti on the rear deck. The remote control Rhodan is UNBELIEVABLE, anchor mode, track mode, I cant imagine fishing without it, best purchase ever.

I am a project guy and this is my 4th boat retrofit. I found an old hewes in need of some love and need to space in my garage to do the work. I am forbidden to own two baots at the same time and i am currently not in compliance with house rules.
