Mister, do you use go-to--my-pc for iPad when you do that? Trying to decide for myself if I want one.

No, I use a cloud based program and my email. I can do anything I do with with my iPad that I can in the office.

I wonder how many dell laptops sold in the same amount of time? More than pc's?

side note: I'm not part of the apple cult
Notebooks started outselling desktops a few years ago.

Look up an app called Docusign you jerk...:)
That's not his whole business. That's my point.

Here is my experience. I can and do use GoToMyPC sometimes and it of course connect to my decktop pc. I dont do a lot of work processing, much of the work I do is standardized froms and emailing documents and accounting all a snap from iPad. My website is hosted by a vendor, so I have no need for that capability and the program I use to run the business and is cloud based from the vendor. When flying, it sure beats lugging a laptop around.

On the other hand, if I did much word processing, I would not be comfortable using an iPad and would buy a laptop for use out of the office. Typing on the iPad is a challange unless you get the small wireless keyboard, which kind of defeats the purchase of the iPad. I have several computers in my home office, but I take the iPad every place I go.

    TD - get Teamviewer

It's the best of breed for remotely accessing your desktop and it works from iPads, iTouch, iPhone, Droids, and other PC's. It's free for residential use and costs a little coin (one time purchase) for business use. The ability of the mouse focus and right click is what sets it apart from the others.

I won't even comment for the 30th time about all the falsehoods being spread in this thread. Suffice it to say - the apple haters don't have a clue IRL what can (and cannot) really be done on iDevices.

No it doesn't, I have this one: http://www.zagg.com/accessories/logitech-ipad-2-keyboard-case

When you place the ipad in the case it stays almost the same size. Bluetooth and works great...

funny how hard it is to pull the truth out sometimes. You didn't have to lie to me though, I was just asking to prove the point that PCs arent quite dead. However you can argue that virtual desktops plus tablets as terminals kill PCs but the fact is you are still using a server (PC) and it doesn't save any $$$ for quite a while. Then Then when you want good video you're back to non VDI for now.

Your "cloud" is just an app and you pay for the service to maintain it. I read through the documentation. As usual, your Ipad is just a consumption device. All the people who are/were involved in writing the app that you use on your Ipad, used PCs to do the real work. See how that works?

haha....did I ever claim anything else? I can run my entire business from an iPad. It's not "my cloud", it's a service I subscribe to that manages the functions of my agency and I use it from the office or my iPad. I don't write apps or programs or do anything that requires more than what I explained.

    See how that works?

And I'd still like to know what a computer can do that an iPad can't?

I'm stuck right now at the crossroads between buying a laptop or a tablet. I "think" I want to get serious with Photoshop. I keep doing these online tutorials but I get so bored with them stuck at my desk using a desktop. I "think" I would spend a lot more time with it if I could setup anywhere in the house I wanted.

Can a iPad run Photoshop CS5?

The bad news is no you can't run Photoshop on the iPad. The good news is that it sounds like you really aren't interested in learning Photoshop so you can get an iPad anyway. :-)
