Apple now ships more iPads than all the PCs Dell sells:

http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/11/30/ipad_disrupting_global_dram_market_causing_chipmakers_to_lose_billions.html

In the last calendar quarter, Apple shipped 11.1 million iPads, which not only expanded the computing market with less need for DRAM, but also held back sales of conventional PCs. Apple actually sold more iPads than rival Dell sold in all its PCs together (10.6 million).

Hard to carry a PC around, no matter the brand.

Maybe if we tell people that the brain is an App, they will start using it.

Are they trying to compare iPad to a desktop PC? Or does that also include laptops? Anyhow, haven't school systems placed huge orders for these things?

Kind of a stupid comparison because in no way is an iPad a PC replacement, regardless of what Apple fanboys "want" to think.

Depends what you use it for. My IPad replaced our home office...

Not really. Needed a whole room for the desktop we had, with monitor and printer and a bunch of crap we never really used. For what WE use it for, web surfing, emails, games, picture printing the IPad is perfect...

    Exactly.

Saying the iPad outsells Dell PCs is no different than saying the iPhone outsells Dell PCs, and everyone with half a brain would consider the iPhone comparison asinine.

It is not stupid. Yes corporation still need PCs but alot of people have opted for a new Ipad versus a new home PC or lap top.

The Ipad is killing PC sales.

And I'd still like to know what a computer can do that an iPad can't?

That comment is so humorous and open ended I do not even know where to begin...

Run a real business from an iPad? NOPE.

Program and host a website from an iPad? NOPE.

True multitasking on an iPad? NOPE.

True photo and video editing from an iPad? NOPE.

    View Flash content? NOPE.

Quickly and accurately create spreadsheets? NOPE.

Anything memory or processor (resource) intensive? NOPE...iPad falls iFlat on its iFace.

For the average Joe that only e-mails and browses the web with light word processing needs, an iPad is fine. Anything more than that, especially centered around business needs, it is a very poor device. The real techies know the limitations, fanboys just cannot look past the pretty Apple logo.

I simply cannot imagine that IT departments are actually wanting to implement the iPad in the field and when they do, it is for basic tasks; it is most likely at the pressuring of ignorant executives and whiny employees that fall for the hype.

I have over a 1,000 clients and although I sit behind two monitors all day, when I travel I can do anything on my iPad I do from here.

Mister, do you use go-to--my-pc for iPad when you do that? Trying to decide for myself if I want one.

I definitely see tablets (not just iPads) disrupting the PC market. For the many home users that just do of their stuff online (web, email, simple games) then a tablet will be their personal computer of choice. If you are a "power user" type person that is doing development, gaming .. things that require more horsepower, well then you are going to use a full fledged computer.

The new Asus Transformer Prime looks very impressive. http://eee.asus.com/en/eeepad/transformer-prime/features/

I love all of this competition because it only gives us better products. A dominated market stifles progress.

They are awesome. I use it to access email, drawings and brochures on the road and at home to surf the internet. Most applications are on the cloud if you really needed them. It doesnt replace my desktop pc, but cant be beat when traveling.
