Near disaster (for the fish) averted

I decided to target black drum with cut (half) blue crabs at my snook spot since I got one as a by catch on a flairhawk snook jig a couple weeks ago. It did not take long to hook up. First bait down got picked up by a big one that got me around structure on the bottom and broke me off. Second bait down got picked up by a solid fish that I landed. I found out the hard way that those giant heads have a powerful shake. When I leadered it and put the fishgrips on, he shook hard and broke the leader and took the grips right out of my hand. Lesson learned, use the attached lanyard around your wrist.

I think I will be adding a lanyard attaching my grips directly to the kayak. Apparently my kung fu grip is not what it used to be.

Never lost leashes are awesome. They coil up and take up no room.
