The worst for me is when its 40 degrees its blowing 25 outta the North I am dripping wet on the dock and some hot rich women comes out in her bathrobe and says (Your going to get in the water, Isint it cold)Had my picture taken a thousand times.
Best job I ever had - software trainer for body shops - could wear shorts, tees and flip flops to work and do trainings with my feet up and eyes closed. A guy walked in for an interview and I was the first thing he saw and wanted to know who he had to kill to work there. Got a weekly cash bonus for hitting my marks. Unfortunately, that job went away and I'm back to being a sports editor/PT fishing guide.
Journalism pros: flexible schedule, variety in work, small papers aren't laying off
Journalism cons: very little vacation, low pay (requiring a second job), folks don't like you much
Guide pros: flexible schedule, variety, decent pay, clients are mostly fun, outdoors
Guide cons: can't do it year-round, some days are a struggle
Love my schedule, like my job.
I work 3 days a week giving me 4 days off every week to be with my family. I will be able to look back later in life without saying that I should have spent more time with my kids.
My wife stays home with them and usually be the end of my 4 days off, she is ready for me to go back to work. lol
Wish I made more money though. The single income thing gets tough sometimes. We aren't hurting, but that is because we don't finance everything and live within our means. Only debt is the house.
Love my job most days... Some days feel like I have way to many irons in the fire but since the dairy went away lots less stress and besides,,,, I feed the world,,, well a little part of it anyway.
