03/16/2020 Short trip out of Red Fish Pass

Mary and I decided to take advantage of calm seas that were predicted. And boy was it calm great ride out and back.  We were going to hit numbers  out to 60 ft. starting at  40 Ft. that have been good in the past for nice lanes,Grunts,Porgys we hit 5 spots that my records show should produce a nice bite this time of the year. Well we did have a steady bite at every stop Sand perch, more sand perch and more sand perch. It was an instant  fish on at every drop. It was shrimp for bait  We kept 8 to  to eat  they are so good, but so small .  I did set out chum at each stop. Only one grunt took the bait. Our last trip to 70 Ft. or so was better for Lanes and Grunts.
We decided to try Tarpon point to see if any Sheepshead were  in the mangroves the water was so full of slimy algae it was impossible to fish there. Good news is the fishing should be getting better.

The sand perch are everywhere! They are congregated pretty heavy, even on some of the hard botom spots in giant clouds spawning.. I will tell you a butterflyed sand perch with its roe hanging out does great on red grouper =0)
