TBT - He Thought It Was A Shark
Been kind of quite so I'll post a Throw-back-Thursday. March, 1989. 122' of water north of the Elbow. My dad dropped a handline on the bottom with a few live Sand Key Pilchards as bait. Fish took off so strong he couldn't hold it and said it's a shark and let the line go. I grabbed it and managed to stop it and started retrieving line. I told him "it's not a shark", much like Richard Dreyfuss said it in jaws as they fought the first fish they hooked that almost emptied a 16/0. Turns out I was right. Few ounces short of 60 lbs. Got a "small" one too of about 30# at the same spot.
