So I have an interview next week (second interview, interviewing with CEO and COO of a medium sized business). First interviews were via telephone and online testing and such, so no suit needed.
Just went to try on my suits and they are all too big now, even though they fit 6 months ago. So I have to buy a suit or have mine taken in (not sure how fast a tailor could get this done, or how far a tailor could bring it in. Pant waste is 36, but my waist is now 32. Coat is too loose in the chest and stomach too now.). Kicker is, I have to buy another suit for a wedding I am in in February no matter what (black, 2 button, modern cut - which I don't currently own). I have always worn blue suits to interviews, but wondering if a black suit isn't too formal. Can I get away with the black suit (especially a modern cut one) for both occasions?
Position is in Operations Management if that matters with respect to formality.
I don't mind buying two suits if I really have to, but money isn't exactly plentiful right now, so $300 sounds way better to me than $600. Tailor would be even better, but I don't know how much they can "shrink" a suit, or whether it could get done fast enough.
This will also be my first interview I have ever had with a C-level exec (all my positions before have been relatively entry level positions where I interviewed with middle management). Any advice there? Handle it the same as the others? The nice thing is the CEO is an acquaintance of mine, so I am not going in totally cold.
This is the type position I earned my MBA for, so I am actually nervous. I have never been nervous for an interview before in my life, so this is all new to me. lol

Men's warehouse buy one get one is still going to cost you a lot. The "good" start at $500 plus another $50 bucks (per suit) or so for tailoring.
you'll be fine
You only get one chance to make an impression.
If the suit is required, then by all means make it your best.
FWIW my dad (Businessman) always told me........its all in the shoes :wink
Mens Wearhouse has always done right by me...but I would check with a tailor if you have a suit you would feel comfortable in. Your time constraints might nix that option, though.
Same opinion here. I always wear my best shoes (Johnston and Murphy), freshly polished to an interview. My Dad always told me that lots of people skip the shoes, and a lot of employers look at them for a sign of attention to detail.
OK, heading to the tailor right now. I figure any suit I buy would likely have to be tailored too (at least the pant legs) so I gotta get a move on.
I was always told, look at what the guy that has the job you want is wearing, and look better.
I always wear full gloves when mountain biking. So my hands are about the only part of my body without scabs, cuts, and bruises. The suit should cover the rest.
I guess I'm SOL if I ever decide to get a job. Oink, oink....:(
Ohhhhh good idea! We could get tips on grooming our ****'s and such!!!
Also belts, shoes, socks were 1 for 2 and shoes were buy one and get one pair for 1/2 price.
I'd bike in if I were you wearing full cyclist **** get up with tight shirt with labels all over like you're sponsored and be sure to be in full stink mode. They'll like that.

I'll bet the wedding has a dress code and suits are required. I just went to one of those.
Did everyone follow it?

All but one. He was kind of a loud mouth and stuck out like a sore thumb. He wore a white sport coat. He was in his 50's I'd guess. I bet he drove a corvette too.
I wasn't pleased about the suit thing since I had to go buy one since I've put on a couple of pounds. That said, it was one of the best weddings I've ever been to. As we were being seated for the ceremony, cocktails were served! I've never had that before.
It appears that someone has already been chewing on them.
I bet you'll look like $100 bucks in one of those suits...
Those a called man hands and you gotta earn them. I wouldnt sweat it.
That, or he has a cat, which would result in **** hands...
Wait what, hows that going to work?

Based on the outline of your body, I'm surprised they have a cut that fits you.
