There was an article recently, I think it was the NY Times, about a link between hearing loss and future cognitive issues. Some of the newest research has shown that hearing loss, without supplementation, is a strong statistical predictor of dementia and Alzheimer's. Evidently, there are areas of the brain that are affected by even very slight hearing loss. Spooked me big time ... will be getting checked again soon.
