Found them out on the north end of the refuge, by the headwaters. Heard them making a ruckus, and sure enough, found them in an oak hammock not too far up from where we were. I know this isn't like award winning, but I am stoked to get this.

Capybara's are vicious and should not be let alone with small children. In-laws are another matter.............
Very nice shot. I have an owl that lands in a tree by my carport almost every night and hoots. I'll bet I've been out there 50 times over the last few years with flashlight and camera but have never yet laid eyes on it.

You have NEVER seen it? Wow. I don't know much about owls, but I found a page that has their different calls. If you are so inclined, here is one of many audio links of Florida owls. If it hoots, it should be fairly easy to see; that would be the Great Horned Owl, and they are of good size. https://www.audubon.org/news/learn-identify-five-owls-their-calls
Haha. That is pretty cool. I wonder what kind it is........
It's a barred owl. I shared some shiners with him once. He had a buddy with him at the time, a snowy egret.
Really? I would load up and go over there right now, but I have never been there, and would have no idea where to go. That is really a cool story though.
