Had a couple of clear nights this week, and with no fishing in sight decided to attempt some photos of a different kind from my backyard. Although I've been into astronomy for three decades, I've been attempting astrophotography for less than a year. Very different than any other photography I've ever done, with a very steep learning curve. Still, the challenges make any image that shows what you are attempting to shoot rewarding. Wish we had weather that was more cooperative. Whether it's fishing or astronomy, the weather never seems to be on my side! I need a new hobby.

No tripod at the time. So you can imagine the quandary w/regard to shutter speed.
