Let's Properly Welcome the New Owner

I know all the jokes and comments around the new owner’s heritage is all in good fun, but I think we are doing a disservice to the team as a fan base to continue the jokes. I have a sense of humor, I laughed at the joke, and if you know me personally you know that I will joke about almost anything, no holds barred. But let’s remember, we wanted change and we got change. Therefore we should welcome the new owner with open arms and open minds. These jokes get back to him, and I am sure they don’t make him feel very welcome to Jacksonville. You have to remember what this country was built on; a bunch of immigrants looking to live the American Dream. My Grandparents came over from Sicily looking to live the American Dream and started up businesses that were American based, and I am sure a lot of your Grandparents , parents, or even yourselves have similar stories. What makes this guy any different? He came over to America, received his American citizenship, started an American based company, and created American jobs. Now he has purchased an American Football team, looking to keep the team in Jacksonville, and help keep employed the thousands of jobs that go with having a NFL team in Jacksonville.
Again, I know it is all in good fun. But let’s do a better job of welcoming the new owner. Let’s support the team as best as we can knowing that it’s a lost year, let’s show the new owner that the fan’s want to see this team stay in Jacksonville, and give him a reason to want to invest more money into this team and into this town. And instead of letting him hear all the jokes, let’s focus on letting him hear that we all want to see Gene Smith gone.

Typical red neck, small minded response. I would expect nothing less from you. Do you ever contribute anything positive to this forum? What is your heritage? Mine is Irish and I make a little money. Should people suspect I'm sending money to the IRA?
Not by choice, pretty sure you go to jail for that type of immigration now.

Unfortunately, there will always be those so small minded that all they will ever see is a "foreigner". Too bad. But he is an American citizen and now owner of the Jaguars. Good for him. Good luck to him.

No, it wasn't meant to be sad, his accent was very cool. He loved America, wanted to be an American, he just wanted people to know he was American and the French accent gave it away. Different time, he came in the 20's. Passed away in the early 80's.
