Hopefully we don't see another upgraded mutation that in combination reduces vaccine effectiveness.  Fingers crossed and stay safe.

Of course the dynamics will say nothing to see here

Southwest airlines canceled nearly 2,000 flights between Saturday and Sunday - blaming the FAA and the weather for problems that didn't seem to affect other airlines. According to FlightAware, Southwest canceled over 1,000 of the flights on Sunday.

“We experienced significant impact in the Florida airports [Friday] evening after an FAA-imposed air traffic management program was implemented due to weather and resulted in a large number of cancellations,” Alan Kasher, who oversees Southwest’s flight operations, in a statement obtained by several news outlets on Saturday.

I flew last weekend, it was scary empty.  Atlanta at most was 30% full from a terminal perspective.  At least that was true for the concourse I was in.

Over 500 fire fighters in Los Angeles recently filed a lawsuit against the city due to ‘the weather’ also.

Would be interesting to see what happens if ‘the weather’ becomes a problem for the truck driving industry.

That darn global warming, err climate change, I mean climate crisis at it again! Muh cow farts!

OSHA will have the rules in the next few weeks. It takes time to go through the process and get input from stakeholders as the law requires.

Then it will likely face challenges from several states that oppose it.

Without a Presidential order or congress passing a law where does OSHA get authority to change rules?  Agencies on their own have the NPRM process they have to follow.

Delta variant has 235% higher risk of ICU admission than original virus

    https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/delta-variant-has-235-percent-higher-risk-of-icu-admission-than-original-virus

I could have sworn someone around here has been arguing the exact opposite....
If thats true then Delta came from the injected.  Regular immune response yields less lethal virus.... just the opposite.

I guess we've been done with it from the beginning.
A 160 person wedding, ~200 person family reunion, 60 person viewing/funeral, 2 keys vacations with 10 people in the same house, 2 ski trips with 8 in our condo, multiple flights.
With all of that, I know of 2 positive cases.  Mine was most likely contracted at the dentist following covid precautions and it was mild.

Congress granted OSHA the authority when it was created. The President delegated the specific authority when he notified them to implement the rules requiring vaccines for worker safety. OSHA will issue an ETS for the Vaccine Mandate that will serve as the proposed permanent standard. The notice of proposed rulemaking may have been issued or OSHA will issue it as part of the process to make the rule a permanent standard. The ETS can be challenged in the appropriate U.S. Court of Appeals if an affected party does not feel it is valid, But it will be law as soon as it is published in the federal register.

Not that I am aware of, the President has issued no such order. OSHA does have standards already in effect for some infectious diseases.

    No sauce for ferris

Vaccine hesitancy among police officers in the United States has been one of the themes of pandemic news this year, but in some places, firefighters are joining the resistance.

This week, hundreds of firefighters in Los Angeles filed a notice of intent to sue the city over its vaccine mandate, saying an Oct. 20 deadline to get vaccinated is “extreme and outrageous.”

The notice, filed Thursday, said each of the 871 firefighters would seek $2.5 million each if the lawsuit is filed — for a projected total of over $2.1 billion. A lawyer representing the group said that the city would have 45 days to evaluate the notice and that he expected to file the suit immediately after that period.

Firefighters in Spokane, Washington, joined state workers in a lawsuit over statewide vaccine mandates, according to KXLY-TV. In Orange County, Florida, a group of firefighters upset by a vaccine mandate sued the county, WFTV reported.

Kevin McBride, the lawyer representing the Los Angeles firefighters, said in an interview that his clients did not trust the available vaccines and could be fired for defying the city’s vaccine mandate.

All three vaccines used in the United States are highly effective at preventing serious illness, hospitalization and death from COVID-19, and serious side effects, like a strong allergic reaction, are extremely rare.

McBride said Los Angeles authorities had rejected his offer of a “middle ground” in which weekly testing would substitute for getting the shot. The mandate passed by the Los Angeles City Council in August did not include an option for regular testing.

    Just so we’re clear:
monoclonal antibody treatment costs about $1200-2000.
    The vaccine costs $40.

The cost that wouldn't even be incurred if the fellow had gotten the vaccine?

    Speaking of vaccinations?

A friend had to answer a couple of new questions before going into a VCU medical facility.
       1)  Have you, close relatives or friends been to fort picket, fort Lee or quantico or in contact with anyone who has?
       2) have you, your friends or relatives had measles or the vaccine?

That sounds like something may have gotten loose.
