I’m running A 19” tempest plus on my 300 verado on A altas 10” hydrolic jackplate. I’ll mostly be fishing lakes or the Delta, so I’m wanting to get more top speed. What prop can I run to get more top speed?
Ones, twos and 3 mph gains are huge in a race. If you want to squeeze mph out of a boat search here https://www.screamandfly.com/forum.php Just changing the prop is one of the steps, you already have the jack plate maybe blue print the hull or just sharpen the transom corners. Quality trim tabs with indication can help. And a GPS, record your speed and conditions and keep us updated here, please.
WOT is Rpm 6,000 and 50 mph. It’s not that I want to go that much faster i just want to cruise the lake and not feel like I’m over revving or to close to being flat out. Or should I just be happy with 40 mph at about 5,000 RPM. I’ve owned A few Ranger bass boats and know what changing props is all about. But I’m new to this type of boat and I’m asking prop questions to see what kind of numbers you guys are getting out of yours? Thanks for all info.
I’m sorry for all the questions but I have something to ad. When I bought the boat the jackplate was adjusted to the #4. I’ve been running it on that number. Can you guys tell me if that’s where I should be? Or should I just set it to 0 or 1
Then that leads to the question. What holes on the motor are the bolts in to the transom?
The motor height is decided with the props relation to the hull bottom not a number on a jack plate or mounting bracket holes or the gap between the mounting bracket rest and the transom top.
A boat rigger's rule of thumb is that the motor can be raised one inch for each eight to 10 inches of distance between the transom and prop. As the prop moves further aft, it's also likely to be in cleaner, “harder” water, and be more efficient.
I run my 2510 with the jack plate at 3.5 and the trim at 10-12(Vesselview Display)for cleaner water and smooth ride. If I trim up higher, I can push speed to 52 at 6200 RPM. Ranger boats are heavier hulls made for a smooth ride. These boats are made for fishing, not racing. If you want a speedboat, buy a lighter hull or get a race boat!!!
Okay so what prop are you running?. I just wanted to know if I’m running the right prop for my application. Thanks for the replies, this is A awesome web forum
