Bottom Fishing Reel

I'm in the process of buying a new Bottom Fishing Reel and could use some feedback on the best reel.  I have fished the Shimano TLD15 for the past 5 years.

I fish out of Palm Beach/Jupiter where there are a variety of species on the bottom.  I have read a lot about the Avet LX G2 but would love feedback on your recommendations.  Thank you!

I prefer star drag for my bottom fishing . In this order I’d say 

1. Saltiga (low gear) 30-40
2. saltist (low gear) 30-40
3. Torium (low gear ) 16-20 

for lever drags I used to use a torsa but they’re rare and expensive now .

Have been a big fan of the Saltiga for a long time.  Bottom fishing does not need a fancy reel (unless you want to have a fancy high dollar reel).  Any good brand star drag reel will get the job done.  Penn Senators have caught more fish than anyone can shake a stick at.  but i do like the speed and size of the Saltigas.

Accurate tern 30. With either 30 or 50 lb braid.  Powerful star drag and light.  Makes for more comfortable fishing IMO

A Penn 4/0 will catch any bottom fish the others listed will, and do it a lot cheaper. It will also probably be trouble free for a bunch of years longer than the fancy reels.

2 Speed for me, Penn Fathom 25NLD2 is the best bang for your buck out there....50 pound braid, light, narrow & game on!

Great reel also, I like star drags too just after trying a 2 speed lever drag is hard to go back, especially in deep water. If you go with the Torium get the nee PG low gear model....hi gear for bottom fishing is a ****. 😂
