SLI 12-8 A Bit Bumpy

Went out yesterday and had a fun day.  Caught some very nice runners for flat lines only to have the live well pump quick working 3 hours into the day 🤦‍♂️.  Had a lot of fun and caught a number of species mangroves, lanes, porgies, short cobia, grunts, 4 huge mystery fish in 80ft.  They were not sharks ended up snapping not cut offs Goliath’s maybe?  Also caught one of these for the first time!  Water is very fishy, however no pelagics were caught.  It was rough for me NOAA and buoy weather said 2-3 more like 3-5 easily, but the Key West did well.  Ended up with a nice 2 pound bag of fillets!  Good luck if you get out.

Yeah lately NOAA is never right, most of the time not even close.   That is one strange looking fish.

I believe that is a scorpion fish.  Its spines are venomous.  IF you get poked by one you will know it and be in for a world of pain for a long time (hospital maybe, I can't remember).

Yea it was strange but the colors were awesome.  Never touched the fish due to unknowns. Actually caught 2 of them.  Funny how there were a ton of boats out and no posts besides mine.  I clearly can’t be the only one catching!?!?!  🎣

Years ago on the Lady Stuart, Captain Phil referred to them as Mother In Law fish

I believe that is a Gulf Toad Fish.  Why Gulf, I have no idea.
