Nomad DTX 200 lure

I've heard good things about these lures so I decided to add on to the tackle box.  However, things did not work out as hoped.  Regardless of speed the lure keeps coming out of the water.   I've tried a variety of speeds from 6.5mph up to 10.5 mph, nothing works.  According to the specs this lure should troll at the speeds I've tried and then some and should dive to 12+ meters.    Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

How did you rig it?  I have mine crimped on 6’ of 49 strand wire and have never had an issue other than no bites

Similar to yours.....5ft of crimped 135lb  7 strand wire.  I've done a little reading and I think I'll contact Nomad directly.  Supposedly there is a warranty on it so hopefully they'll replace it.  We'll see......

Same here also. Another over hyped BS lure. I just never tried to tune it but if Nomad will replace it then In will look into it. Never had problems like this with Yo Zuris although they don't dive as deep.

I'll let you know how I make out....don't have my hopes too high but worth a try at $35 a lure

Same result here. Went out today and put the DTX first in the water. Kept coming out of the water no matter what speed. We figured it was because we had it on a wire line reel. Were you fishing it with braid to cable? We had wire to shock leader to 175# 49 strand.

You have to let it waaaaay back starting at 100yds ... for me . I’ve rigged it several ways . From single strand to multistrand to 130lb flouro. Always worked best when let back far. The best way I’ve used was the single strand then the multi strand .

I’m interested in trying the new 220 size to see if the added size and depth make it easier to track better for me in shorter distances . Just my .02

Sounds like the lures need to be tuned to run straight (when they are off they will pull to one side and eventually pop out of the water).  We used to have to do that with the big Mirrolure deep divers.  But, for $35 a lure i would be upset to have to tune it right out of the box (maybe after a fish or two or getting huge on the bottom).

I’m having the same problem. I bought 2 of these lures last year. I rigged them both with single strand wire. One works ok but the other won’t dive at all. I’d love to hear what DTX has to say when you contact them. For now I’m giving up and will look for another diving plug.

How far back are you running them?  I have mine rigged on cable and fish it way, way back and have never had a prob.

I have had good luck with them. This is a 165, on 49 strand, about 2’ long, then a snap swivel to a fluoro/mono top shot.
      The Hoo was 46#.

That is a nice wahoo.  How fast were you trolling?

Just 6-7 mph. Was pulling that, a Bonita lure and some Mahi chugged type stuff long, or on the riggers. I gave up on High speed when I went from a single 300 to twin 300’s. The fuel burn just makes it hard to swallow.   It was 46#, which is about double my past best.

    Gary,
A few of the guys in the Big Bend use the Nomads for their trolling and have it dialed in great.  I realize it is completely different fishing up there, but you might be able to contact them on how to get them to run true.  Butch, Doc, and Ruff all do really well trolling those plugs.
