Like any proven winner would want to come to Jacksonville... One of the premier cities in the NFL...ah no. One of the strongest fan bases...ROFLMHAO. One of the most promising group of athletes... A free spending supportive owner? Think again.
Name any team in the NFL that is a worse place to go coach?

QUIT DREAMING. The best thing that could happen to the Jags is for them to move. And that si just plain and simply the truth.

Money talks! I for one hope we don't take Fisher. Just can't stand that guy.

Well we do have a young team.

The Redskins. Owner who thinks that spending money is the solution to the problem, lots of talented players, big market, large fan base and a total freaking disaster.

The fact of the matter is that the Jags are an NFL team with a talented D and a young O with a three time all-pro running back. While we may not be attractive to a former super bowl winner we would be an ideal spot for a talented up and coming coach.

This last comment isn't directed at Frisbee but which is it - do we give non producing players and coaches huge contracts or are we cheap, not willing to spend any money to field a winning team? You can't have it both ways.

If we could get a Dungee or a Gruden then yes, I don't think we need to look further. If the active head coaches are really doing a good job where they are at now then why would they leave to come here at the end of the season? Also, while you can "evaluate" the offensive players by watching one or two plays as Chuck mentioned, how do you know what is really going on behind the scenes with the coaches and staff? You don't until you come in and see what is really happening.

The point is that while we have not been happy with Jack at the helm, if we are not going to go look for another coach NOW, why can him at this moment? He was at least a 500 coach. Do we know Tucker is going to do a better job for the rest of the season? If we aren't going to find a great coach now, then they should have just left it alone for the rest of the year. I think a lot of folks are tired of all the surprises and decisions that look reactionary instead of planned out. If they don't start looking for a coach then I'm going to assume they are going to take another "chance" with an unproven coach that has never had the top job in the NFL and I for one am not ready for more OTJT!

Who cares about the rest of this season?

And what about coordinators and position coaches that a new head coach might want to bring in??

When can we get rid of Crusty old Dirk Koetter? When he is calling the Offensive plays we cant win. This guy is the worst play caller I have ever seen. My kids told me in the stands last week, "Why do the jags run on every first down"? We are so telegraphic that even my 11 year old can see the play coming. Only til the second half did we throw a few times on First down. I think we need a new upcoming young O-coord thats aggressive.

I just don't want our decent free agents running for the door because they think this franchise doesn't care about winning. Bringing in a good coach now could keep that from happening. Once again it looks like we are going to give an unproven guy the big chair and "hope for the best".

A qualified, proven head coach could use what he had for the next 5 games and bring anyone he wants in during the off season. Not tough to figure out.

Mel said we would see some good things over the next few weeks. I'm waiting and hoping....

I get what you are saying about a proven head coach and tend to agree if we can get the right guy but I guess I just don't understand the concern for the rest of this season and the rush to get someone right now.

I agree with you Brad, we need to take our time. Most likely the list of coaches will be made up of a lot of assistants wanting thier first shot at the head coach position. The jags need to do a long vetting process.

From everything I've read, it just sounds like Del Rio wasn't 100% committed. The article in today's TU states he was almost bi-polar at times.

Everything I'm reading on Tucker sounds like what you'd expect from a head coach. On time, high tempo, practicing like practice is for real. Hopefully that translates into some better performance on the field. It's only been a week but I like Tucker.

Hope Tucker doesn't use all of the time outs in the first quarter.
Also, with 2 min left in the first half we get the ball on our own 40 and take the knee 3 times. We're only losing by 3 let's go to the halftime. Got to be better then that.

That was Jack's, "playing not to lose" mentality. We need an aggressive coach who plays to win. Part of that also a rookie QB, but still.

Just a frustrated fan who wants to see change NOW .... LOL

This is my issue. I don't want to waste another 3-8 years on an unproven head coach. JMHO and I'm sure I won't get what I want but I will still support the team and go to the games no matter what. :thumbsup

Nothing is a guarantee, even an established coach. How's Shannahan doing in Washington? How'd Wade Phillips do in Dallas? How'd Maruicci do towards the end of his career? Billick?

A proven head coach means nothing in this league. The game has changed, and until the rules change again, passing offenses will dominate the NFL. We need an air it out, offensive minded passing coach who can groom a QB. Tucker can handle the D.

Please stop talking about Billick. That guy stinks. I heard him say that he was too expensive for the Jags. I actually laughed out loud when I heard that. What do you guys think about having a head coach who asks only that his offense not lose the game? Oh, wait. We just got rid of that. He and Dilfer rode Ray Lewis' coat tails to the super bowl.

Every great head coach was an up and comer at some point. I would welcome a first time head coach with extensive experience as a position coach/coordinator. I would like to stay away from the really young hot shot types. I would have to say that the odds are very long with those guys.

Nothing like being excited about the Jags again.

This team is young but it also has had a "player's coach" for some time now....which equals no discipline....to an extent.

What we need is a Caughlin-like coach. One who will come in and put his foot down.

I also don't think we need any of the has beens....there is a reason all of them don't have a job right now.....

..... It's like the pretty girl...no matter how good they look...somebody, somewhere is tired of their "crap".

The jags should take their sweet time and find the right guy to lead these guys.

    Hope so anyway.!!

How about Eric Mangini. I watch him on ESPN. He's young. Former Browns head coach. A protege of Belichek and in the same class as my daughter at Wesleyan.
