The Redfish in town should be the story! i caught one years ago in the hot water canal (back when you could fish it) in the port. Tell your son he did good! Hope he got a few photos!

About 25 years ago saw a girl catch an approx 20 inch redfish from the seawall at Birch State Park. When I went over to check it out I saw she had a twin to it in her cooler already! Both caught on dead shrimp on what we used to call a "tourist rig". Coated wire leader with a weight and a couple of red beads on it.  Lived/fished here my whole life and those are the only redfish I've ever seen in Broward. You just never know.
