What Happens When You Fail To Put The Plug In Your Boat

Sad thing is if they'd simply put the plug in and pumped it out and run the engine they'd be boating today.  Instead they left the thing in the water for 2 weeks.

It depends one time i was late to the ramp and forgot to put the plug, put the boat in and when i went to tie it the bilge pump started that was kind of weird so instead of tying i put it back in the trailer that's when i see the plug missing.

    I'm guessing you didn't even need the video . . .

I will confess this one thing (and only this): when I was a very young man and had a crowd watching at the ramp I wheeled that trailer around and splashed the boat in like Joe the pro I was.  Jumped out of the truck, walked back and realized I hadn't unstrapped the boat and it was now floating the trailer, just the two little guide things sticking up (which attracted more of the crowd, especially the good looking women . . .), so I said in a loud voice: "That ought to be clean enough!"  Got in, pulled out and took it back home and waited a couple hours to launch.

I think everyone has had a brain fart at the ramp.   I've forgotten the rain plug once.   I have had a winch gear break as well as a winch strap.  I wish I was pefect, and I have no issue laughing at things I know I have done myself.  I backed down the ramp too fast one time and the rope slipped out of my son's hand, he yells "dad it's getting away" I yell back "well go get it!!!!!!"    So he jumps in the water, 530 am, in April, water was about 60 degrees and swims out to get the boat.  He looked like a drowned rat when he got back and I felt terrible.

Done the leap of shame myself, saw someone drop the plug during a leap of shame as well.

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.

I just did it a couple weeks ago, haven't done that in years. but leaving it in the water like that for 2 weeks, yea, that is just plain stupid. My brother's neighbor had his Yamaha jet boat sink at the dock, the guy took it to the shop to get it fixed and they gave him a quote and he decided to wait to see if insurance would cover it. couple weeks later insurance said no you were negligent. hired a lawyer, months go by, boat is now total loss. insurance also fights. He ended up paying way more than what he would have paid the shop to just flush the thing out in the first place. It was on a fresh water lake too.

20 years old. Totally stoked I was able to back my 12ft sea arc flat bottom in without looking like a total fool. Tie it off and park the 4 banger S10. By the time I get back the coolers , bag of shiners and life jackets are floating. Couple ol’ boys help me drag it up the ramp and both admitted “been there done that”. Haven’t done it since but def know it’s not outside the realm of possibility. It’s the first thing I do in the routine now.

Almost every boat I've had I left the plug out once.  I went camping with my 9 and 4 year old children, launched the boat, parked the camper and walked back to the ramp.  The 2 6 gallon gas cans were floating.  I asked a woman that just launched her boat if she would pull mine up with her trailer and she did.  30 minutes later the boat drained and off we went.

They really need to install bleachers at a lot of public boat ramps. Sell tickets and drinks. Make a fortune on some days.

My sister and her husband have gone to the ramp with lawn chairs and a pizza, great way to spend a sunday afternoon in NSB.

Memorial Day is the best time for ramp watching.  For a lot of folks it's the first time since Labor Day they were out.

There used to be a beach bar/finger-food place by one of the ramps in the Melbourne Titusville area but I can't recall where it was now.  It is a great idea for free entertainment.

Hooters in Port Richey.  Right next to the ramp at Nick's Park.  Great entertainment.

Was on a water test on a boat I was going to buy and the bilge pump was constantly working during the test. Boat ran great and when we loaded on the trailer found the plug in the motor well. Good way to test the bilge pump.

we have all done "it" at some time....... the local marina has a regular crowd with lawn chairs, coolers & olympic style score cards.......... afternoon after a holiday or Columbus day regatta has yielded some high level, cheap entertainment....

Used to be a group of old guys that would spectate at the old belliar bait shop, guess they could heckle better there than at the condos.

This is about electric boats that need to be plugged-in to charge, or what?
