I retired last year from selling Hobies so I havent seen one or played with it. All I can say is Hobie engineers are pretty good at testing new designs extensively before releasing them on the public. However the more complicated they make something the longer it takes to fix if there is a problem.
I've seen the video's on it. I haven't played with one. When my son and I first saw them, we had to have them yesterday!! But, for myself, I don't fish tournaments and I have never found it a hassle to use my paddle (I have a PA14) to reverse or help me maneuver. I'd rather spend the money on: 1) A new Hobie Passport 12.5 2) A used Pop-up camper to enjoy all of the above with family.
