Bank fishing technique we used in the 60's - worm, no weight, cast from the bank out, 1-2 retrieve with Eagle Claw weedless hooks. Frustratingly slow, not flashy, frustrating that everything will hit it (including turtles), but if you ever had to have a meal - it will do the job at getting the bass.

We cast 16" floating worms without weight on to shore from boat and retrieve them into the weeds and pads. Basically making it look like water snake. Very effective early and late in the day on large bass. Biggest I've caught using this method was 9 1/2 lb. but my brother caught one that was 11 3/4 lb. at lake Jackson in 1998.
