shed hunting

I've always been a dog hunter and love having working dogs ! I have had a pen full of hog dogs and a hound around since I was able to care for them on my own. I also have always wanted a dog to find shed antlers for that short time that they are on the ground! I've read A LOT about training and how to, but never spoke with someone who actually does it ! I recently picked up a pup for my boy and want to train him to find shed antlers.. if anyone does it or knows someone that does please let me know . Any info it much appreciated !

I got a Walker that is bad *** at finding them! Problem being he doesn't bring them back. He either eats them or buries them to eat later on....

Sounds like a pretty darn interesting deal though. Thank you for bringing this up and posting the information both cetchdog and jame14!!!!

Looks like he's starting off right! If I ever get a dog I will train it to find sheds. I hunt too far away to use him as a blood trailer but could take him up for scouting missions.

My two weiner dogs fetch foam Nerf balls shot across the living room out of a Nerf gun better than my lab ever fetched anything. I could probably train either one to do this, but their legs are so short it would take them three days to get off the road

This guy is Bo ! My boy picked him out and named him ! He is a short legged jack russell and at 9 weeks is toten this shed all over the dang house ! And he will find it anywhere in the yard and bring it in ! Cool lil dog never had anything but large dogs so this is a first ! But I'm bound and determined to train him to find sheds ! I've read a few books and articles and jack russells have been used for this a lot
