Dry spell is over...

I had to go back and look when my last slam was...the 14th of July...Ugh!  I will say that I have had some divided loyalty wanting to run out the inlet and play with Kingfish which cuts down on opportunities at Redfish. The water has gotten worse inshore south of the inlet and visibility is probably less than a foot most places now. It is also hot. Topwater guy said it was 87 yesterday and I bet it gets hotter in the afternoon sun.  The last few days have been spotty with some days only 3 or 4 snook then another day with 10 or 12.  The trout have been for the most part small sub slots but every once in a while there is a good one.

Today I got lucky and threw the Greenie CAL in the right spot.

......yes...it counts. Even a small one.

I was debating using Yacht club today with it being the first day of mini season. I figured I would drive past and if it was bad I would head to Wabasso. Imagine my surprise when there is only one truck ahead of me. I drop in with Topwater guy next to me and by the time I'm in...there are 3 boats qued up. It was going to get busier.

I get to my first spot and get a nice snook.

I get another slightly smaller one and move on.  Nothing...and more nothing. Make a move and get a small trout. I keep banging along and get a ladyfish and then another decent fun size snook. The water is really bad..REALLY!
I keep blind throwing and get a light hit....

I decided to try something different...popping cork and jig...I got another small trout and another small snook. Quit at 9 AM

Three in a row... Even though the days started off rough.

I fell getting out of my boat while fueling up and fell against the gas pump...Ouch! I got out and nothing at my first spot. See some bait and figure I'll grab some and if weather looks OK...Run the beach. Nope, Livewell pump is running but no water....Close sea **** and pull pump...Metal impeller shaft is rusted thru...impeller laying there.
Run to next spot and get a small snook. No bait in area so I run again. Get to a spot and get a small trout.
I stay in the area but the water is total junk...but...

Way better than yesterdays, that's for sure.
    It also makes it #48

Keep throwing and get 2 more trout....then this one...

I probably could have started a new thread...but today ended a 4 day dry spell again so...

The past few days have been snook and trout...some real good ones...and some small ones. The water is bad dirty which makes things a bit more difficult. I only actually saw Reds on Friday but it was late and I just could not get them to bite...the funny part is that I know three guys who all caught one that morning.

If you get on the right school of mullet there are some nice trout around.

And yesterday morning I was catching some snook up to about 20 inches and was enjoying that...and then got this one... Too bad about the whole wrong month thing..a solid 30 incher.

So, about today... Last night we had a wicked bad storm in Sebastian...It rolled in about 2:15 AM pouring rain and crashing lightning and thunder like crazy...woke me up!  Then, I couldn't fall back asleep...but did..and overslept.
Bee lined it to the ramp with only a quick cup of instant coffee before running out the door.  It looked like I was about 20 minutes behind my normal time. First two spots are dead...third spot and I put another nice snook like yesterdays in the air..but on her third jump she came off. Next spot was a small trout. It was looking like a tough day.
I moved south some and found some mullet and pulled a top slot trout. This was my que to head south and get any snook. I caught two decent ones in the 20 inch class and decided to keep moving point to point and hope for the best. I saw jhdog13 was out and I hope he was able to get his tagged red... I finally got a Red...no tag.

So...that makes #49...next one puts me at the half way point.

It was 10 minutes after 9 and was hot & humid ... I have a bunch of chores the wife wants done ahead of a big family reunion on Sunday and with a 25 minute cruise back to the ramp I headed in.

Handies in the park men's rooms.
That's what I thought this thread was gonna be about.
I have never seen live bones, but I know that they are often used by rich people to decorate the interior.

Ive started my move down to you guys neck of the woods. It really sucks constantly hearing about how bad the water quality is down there. But I'm glad you're still able to catch some fish.
