I got down Friday in time for the extreme high tide and gale force winds, the good news is I''m down until memorial day. The road is passable, the marina is hoping to have all the repairs completed by the time schools out (it's open and they have beer, bait and fuel).
I spent yesterday changing filters and scrubbing the boat and getting it in the water. I went off shore this morning and caught 15+ short grouper immediately on L-Y nothing trolling, I'm not sure a 24" grouper exist in these waters. I had a first for me, a large pod of porpoise hung around and when I tossed a short back a huge one nailed it right at the boat. The bite stopped cold and I was back in time for a late lunch. Had light wind at my back going out and on my return. I have purple martins at the house I put up, a swarm of humming birds and some interesting gaudy migrants at the feeders. My granddaughter will be here this weekend, I love my retirement.
