Had a blast playing around in a buddies pond with some tilapia on the fly rod. My daughter also had fun catching them on the spinning rod.

what fly were you able to get them to hit? i haven't seen them show much interest in anything. looks like you got a great fishing buddy too! take a kid fishing!

A really old fly I had in the box. Not positive what it's called. (we may have cheated a little bit and chummed them into a frenzy first )

LOL - i have done that with the big carp in our canal. otherwise they are as spooky as bonefish.

What ever works. good job, I've never had one eat a fly.

if you find them when the ficus berries are dropping they are a bit easier but they still have excellent vision & demand stealth. a small berry fly of stacked deer hair works good. use a light (6#) leader. after all that they don't fight all that hard tho

@Whippin_N_strippin, you're a hero. Priceless moments fishing with your kid. They grow up fast man!!  Nice tilapia, fun on the fly rod.
