I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.
Sorry to hear about it. Magot and I probably caught fewer fish than anybody else on the forum. We uses to tease each other about our.s short coming on catching fish. No feeling were hurt by our's good hearted teasing. He author a book called The Big Bend. Good reading about a fictional warden patrolling the Big Bend area. I fished with him a couple of times, we did OK for us and I had a great time. He will be missed.
I found this just last night in my old photos, Just one of many jabs on the forum we posted on each others.

Yes, he was quite a guy! He loved the Big Bend enough to pull his boat all the way from middle Ga. just to fish. Yes, he didn't hurt the fish population much, but he sure made a lot of people laugh. And yes, I am sure he will be missed by a lot of friends and family. RIP.
Magot had a little Scottish Terrier that he took fishing with him. On one ofmy few trips with him the dog looked in the live well . I couldn't resist teasing him some more about his fishing. He had a good humor.
Magot was one of the good guys. Ten or so years ago he reached out to me when I was trying to write a short story, making corrections and suggestions, I still have his notes so now I wish I had finished it so he could have seen the final product. We stayed in touch over the years, had some laughs at Captain Ed's get togethers, I will miss him.
RIP Magot.

I think the direction this forum went is more of a reason, he was pretty active on another.

Yes Mag'z was a true original!! I'm so glad to have fished with him several times and to call him a friend!! You could always tell who he liked by the times he would cut you up on the forum! If he didn't like you he would never mention you! I don't think it was about the fishing for Tom but more about the whole experience here in his beloved Big Bend. I read and enjoyed his book very much. RIP Old Friend!!!

RIP. Sad to hear. I took him and his wife brim and speck fishin several times. We ended up having our differences, but he was a good dude. Hope his wife, Doris, is doing okay with all the animals.

Yep. Magot was an ornery old cuss, tried to get him back to his Big Bend roots to go fishing again, the spirit was willing but the flesh was tired. RIP Tom. I'm having to deal with that same issue with dad. If you have a loved one and they still have the will to go, make an effort to take them fishing.
