Had a great day today trying out a few different spots. The sea fog wasn't there today until about 45 feet of water, and the water was glassy calm, I didn't see another boat all day. I had the Gulf to myself.

It was slow out there, so I decided to head back in and get a few Grunts to make a few meals off some rocky areas in 35 feet.

Got the first few on Gulp Shrimp, and then switched to cut bait. They were hitting as fast as I could unhook them and get another bait back down. I kept 8 and released about 50.

The light spinning rod was fun on those, but there were also a lot of Grouper there and I kept getting rocked. But I did get several smaller ones in to be released.

Finally quit that and went to trolling that area. Got 3 more and then a nice one on a plug. Measured it at 26" and then released.

Then I started working my way back in, picking up 2 more, one on the plug and the other on a pink skirt down on a planer. I got in to 25' to a small ledge that was covered up with bait.

It was also at the point where grass was getting to be a problem keeping the lures cleaned off. I brought in the rod with the plug on it and racked it up, intending to call it a day and head back in. Then I had a solid hit on the planer, and a good bit of line went out against the drag. The rod was bouncing, so I knew that it wasn't hung up. I got it in, measured it at 29", and released it.

The day turned into a heck of a lot of work for 8 Grunts!
