Kind of sucks for Miami having to find a coach now. He should have let them know earlier so they could have been looking and maybe got a coach before the all the recruits jumped ship.

I love the shot about integrity, if nothing else the program has been clean for years. Fun to kick people when they are down.His downfall was his inability to change, he did what was best for him and UM.

BIG difference between UM and UGA. Just ask the NCAA and/or look
at the track records of cheating for both schools. Richt was never a good fit for the UM head coaching job. 

According to the NCAA Georgia has 7 and Miami  has 6 major violations. Looks like Georgia wins this track record according to the NCAA.

You said look at the track records with the NCAA, so I did.  7 major violations versus 6. I wasn't aware we were discussing the "quality" of the violation. 

If you rob a bank for $100 or $100,000, it is still the same crime.

lol different crimes are charged with misdemeanors/felonies and carry different penalties.
The same goes for "Major violations" in the NCAA. lol

Major violations are equal to felonies. Minor violations would be misdemeanors. Georgia had a basketball violation that carried a 4 year probation. The Miami case you cited only had a 3 year probation. 

Now you will claim we can only discuss football violations.

 The University of Miami lacked institutional control when it did not monitor the activities of a major booster, the men¿s basketball and football coaching staffs, student-athletes and prospects for a decade, according to findings by the Division I Committee on Infractions. Many of Miami¿s violations were undetected by the university over a 10-year period, and they centered on a booster entertaining prospects and student-athletes at his home, on his yacht and in various restaurants and clubs. Approximately 30 student-athletes were involved with the booster. Several football coaches, three men¿s basketball coaches and two athletics department staff members were also involved in the case. These staff members had a poor understanding of NCAA rules or felt comfortable breaking them. Furthermore, some of the coaches provided false information during the enforcement staff and university¿s investigation. The former head men's basketball coach failed to meet his responsibilities as a head coach when he did not monitor the activities of his assistant coaches, and attempted to cover up the booster's threats to disclose incriminating information, according to the committee. Additionally, two assistant football coaches and one assistant men¿s basketball coach did not follow NCAA ethical conduct rules.

Just pointing out niether school is clean of violations . The Miami case you cited included basketball violations. Now they don't count.

The defense under his leadership was 
Average. 

Run d and long pass d needs a lot of improvements. 


Plus cost the U and xtra 5 mil

that 5 mil would have been better spent on a proven head coach.

I agree. They jumped the gun. They need someone that can get recruits. Not sure Diaz is going to do that. They need a high profile coach for the players to follow. This ain"t the NFL.

Diaz is certainly an interesting hire. Let's hope he isnt the second coming of Randy Shannon.
