Greetings from your absentee landlord...

I'm a few days late, but I hope all of my fellow kayak anglers have been enjoying the holiday season! I spent Christmas in Jamaica again, but the weather was just as windy and rough as here (Broward), so no fishing stories this time.

One of the things I'm going to try to do in the new year is be more active in our sub-forum. I had a really busy work year and really only checked in every so often to make sure y'all were safe from SPAM :D but I was unable to contribute much since I had very few opportunities to fish  :/

I'd like to acknowledge and thank all of the members who post videos and reports regularly: JW_YakAngler, John Mckroid, Hobie Angler, just to name a few. Also, shout out to John Mckroid for getting recognized by Hobie and becoming part of their official fishing team ( https://www.hobie.com/hobie-fishing-team/ ), awesome job sir. Thank you and the other members who share their experiences on our little corner of the interwebs.

Be safe on the water and I wish you all a very fishy 2019.
Cheers,
Chris

Cheers Chris,  hope to see you more on the water in 2019.  Thanks for the kind words.  I had not seen the updated Hobie website including myself on the team.  The guy I allegedly replaced is also there, so I guess they have expanded the team.  Sailfish Smackdown is around the corner, I hope you can make it ?

I'll come to the captain meeting and watch at the beach, but I probably won't participate until summer slam. I've never had any luck with sailfish so not really feeling the desire to compete.
Btw, You think Sunday will be calm enough to fish?

Thanks man, I have found this sub forum and the 10k island sub forum a bit more accepting of videos than the general forum. Nothing was ever directed at me specifically, but folks seem a bit critical of videos over there. I always include a written report with my post for those who dont care for videos.👍

There is always a first, but if you don't want to make it this year, see you at the meeting.  Yes, this Sunday looks fishable for offshore kayak anglers.

Great Chris, I look forward to more of your posts and like you mentioned, I appreciate and compliment these guys who post such excellent commentary, photos, and videos.

As a person who lives vicariously through the members here when it comes to saltwater fishing, I truly enjoy and anticipate each new video.

Also Chris, I've reached out to both you and John directly a few times and each time you've both been extremely gracious in taking your time to get back in touch, and help me.

Thanks so very much and have a spectacular 2019!

That's what this place is all about, let's keep it a clean and helpful environment for all who visit our sub-forum. You guys are all awesome.

BTW I tried to go out this morning, but the spot I picked was too rough for me to feel comfortable launching in the dark (Spanish River park in Boca). Better safe than sorry, and I'm a bit rusty now. Let's hope 2019 brings calmer days.

Launching in the dark is rarely comfortable, especially if you have not been out in awhile.  Would have been a good day for the ramp.  Sorry you did not make it out.  2018 seemed to be unusually windy compared to previous years of offshore kayak fishing.   Better luck next year !
