Who do you tip during the holidays?

King_MeKing_Me Posts: 7,096 Admiral
I gave our maid $100, barber $50 and mail lady $20.  I use to give my regular bartender $50 but don't drink or go to drinking establishments anymore.

I don't tip at Christmas Never understood this. I guess if I had a maid, maybe. The barber gets a tip when I get the haircut. Usually not the same person each time even though I go to the same place,

Why tip the person who delivers your mail? The last postal employee I knew made $60,000 a year. Not sure why I would tip them. Don't tip the garbage guy either.

Why did you start a thread about tipping during the holidays?
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon... No matter how good you are, the bird is going to crap on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

I tip the garbage man, they pick up whatever I put out even if it violates policy..

I tip a couple of employees at the fish house, they shovel my ice, clean my birds, etc.
I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.

I tip the lady who cuts my hair $100 but unlike Cadman I use the same lady every four weeks and have for 8 years. I also tip Ricardo who cuts the grass $100. Old house we had a housekeeper and she got $1000 but she stayed with the house

Got Publix giftcards for mailgirl, lawnguy, fedex, ups and garbage guys. We have the same people everyday in our hood. They work hard and deserve a little something.

I wonder if we have any members or member's family that are in those jobs and could give us an idea of what percentage of their customers tip, and how?

Did see the UPS guys tip the guitar player at a sushi bar the other night

I only tip people who make a living on tips such as waiters/waitresses so unless I go out to eat, no extra tipping during the holiday season. I don't tip folks who work for a regular salary/wage as they should be getting bonuses from their employers. Government workers, including postal employees should not be allowed to receive tips.

I own a landscaping and lawn care business. Out of around 120 regular clients I’d say that 75% will include something extra. Usually $50-$100. A lot of folks will also go out and tip my guys personally. The folks that tip always get put at the top of my list during the rainy season.

I always tip servers well. 30% or so at least.

I'll tip the haircutter when I get a haircut.

That's about it. Well, maybe a really good bar band, but they are few and far between.

The forum moderators certainly deserve a tip. They got rid of at least two PIAs in the last few weeks.  LOL.

Shouldn't receive a tip? It's nonenof your business what someone else wants to do.

It is my business as a taxpayer. I still believe Government employees should not be allowed to receive tips. They need to be impartial and not be influenced by anyone. I do not care what the private sector does but human nature as mentioned in a previous post (#13) will cause favoritism to someone who tips them.

LOL, yeah they'll deliver their mail first or lose yours because you didn't tip.

It's not your business when someone uses their own money to tip someone.

Sure it is my business as it is illegal to give a Government worker any cash, liquor, or anything else that can be exchanged for cash.

They are employees under the executive branch under current law.

My mail box is on the street a quarter mile from m my rural home.

No idea who he or she is. Do give the housekeeper a cash bonus. That's it. I do my own garbage hauling, and yard work.

I would fire my mailman and stop my postal service if it was legal.  I'm not giving him/her a tip.

I get nothing but paper spam through the mail.

Who doesn't tip service workers over the holidays? Jeez, chitheads.

I'll give the garbage guys another for New Years after dealing with Christmas trash.

Is your mail box on the street  or a quarter mile away at your house?

Our mail man is to lazy to drive up the driveway to our house to drop a package. He just drops a ticket in the box to drive 20 miles to the post office to pick it up.
