CBS graded the first year college coaches and Dan Mullen got an A. Only UCFs new coach scored better with an A+.

Willie Taggart at FSU got the only F they handed out.

Yeah but according to a very reliable source on this forum, Mullen is a horrible hire and Taggert is going to be GREAT.

Doing poorly in year 1, is that really a sign?  Sometimes being patient pays off.  Didn't the browns fire belichick?

Obviously Taggart will get some time to turn things around. With his recruiting skills he should be able to continue getting great athletes to come to FSU. Tom Luginbills comments on what he saw on the sidelines.

And just because you have success your first year doesn’t mean it will hold up. Mac won 11 games his first year at UF.

Certainly true.  I would give s coach a good 3 to 5 years before jumping the gun.  In particular I'm curious to see how Nebraska develops.

I think Frost will change the culture there. But will be interesting to see. Also curious to see how UCLA  does over the next couple of years. Initially Chip Kelley would have been my choice for a HC ( probably some noles that would have liked to have him also, but he may have been picked up before the FSU job opened.. can’t remember/ doesn’t matter)....I’m happy with who we got.  UCF should be elated with the job Huepel has done for them. Seems like Charlie strong didn’t do a terrible job this year, his job is probably safe for a while. They seem content with top 25 finishes.

Bobby was 5-6 his first year. That turned out pretty good. Whether Taggart can turn it around is still in question. But, the grade was for their first year, and Taggart earned his F, without any doubt.

A 5 win season for Bobby is different.  That was more wins than the team had over the last 3 or 4 seasons COMBINED.  Then 10 wins the next year.  He took over a very poor program at the time.  He also had a good run at WVU.  Agreeing with the rest of your post.  Taggert is still way unproven and the team had no leadership in their coaching last year.  Time will tell but really a bad start.

I wasn’t dissing Bobby at all. Just making the point that the first year doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

First year doesn't tell the entire story. Next season will be a better indicator. I have a feeling FSU will still have issues. But I could be wrong.

I just hope the Gators keep moving forward. Another 9-3 or 10-2 next year and I am happy. 2020 we should be back in the SEC title hunt.

I think they will still have issues, also, Cad. They’ve got too many things wrong right now to fix during one off season. O line being the biggest, along with lack of discipline. I don’t see Blackman being much improvement over Frenchy either.

The “small improvement” would defiantly help considering what we have now. Rumor is Frenchy is leaving anyway, I’m good with a new guy, even if he’s a freshman. Blackman has never impressed me.
