That is nonsense.  Where did you hear that?  They don't like the way my hands smell?  I always handle the traps and catch them all.  These are newcomers, but I seem to have caught them all.

Someone isn't getting caught in the traps that is why more keep showing up.   Momma and dad rat keep making new ones.

Maybe time to seal the building.  Steelwool, and expanding foam, any hole you can get your thumb into.
The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.

Expanding foam doesn't do much if they really want to get in they'll chew their way in through it.  Hardware cloth is better.  I've done rodent exclusions and its a giant PIA if they're already in the building, any hold the size of a quarter is big enough, if the head fits, the body will follow, you have to look for grease stains on the walls to indicate where they're coming and going they're filthy greasy animals.  They leave grease marks on their entrances and exits.
